Chur Private Walking Tour
Old towns with cobblestone lanes and colourful historic homes
Chur, which is located in the canton of Grisons (or Graubünden in German), is 50 kilometers from the Italian border and an hour’s rail trip from Zürich. It is the largest city between Zürich and Milan, with 40,000 residents. Chur was initially populated during the Neolithic era. More archaeological proof demonstrates that people lived in this region of the Rhine Valley during the Stone Age. At the beginning of the Christian era, the Romans finally conquered the region, naming their settlement Curia Raetorum, which later became Germanized to Chur.
