Zurich is a canton in northern Switzerland, located on the shores of Lake Zurich in the valley between the mountains Uetliberg and Zurichberg.
The canton is situated in the eastern part of the Swiss plateau. It is entirely within the drainage basin of the High Rhine. It is characterized by Glacial landform and traversed by a series of rivers generally flowing south-east to north-west.
The canton is divided into 12 districts: Zürich, Affoltern, Andelfingen, Bülach, Dielsdorf, Dietikon, Hinwiln, Horgen, Meilen, Pfäffikon, Uster and Winterthur.
